The motherboard has USB, the mouse is USB, why bother with PS/2? Also, and this is just a reflection of my experience, but I haven't had any issues with USB mice for a very long time. From my Logitech MX Master to very very very cheap (even free) optical ones.

Why not?

There is no “bother” here. The mouse has a cable, the cable goes to the back of the tower with USB or PS/2.

And I have one more USB port to plug other stuff.
