Yes, there is a generation of programmers that doesn't believe something like File Pilot is even possible.

They'd be very confused at something like "A mind is born" then?

https://linusakesson.net/scene/a-mind-is-born/

7030 times smaller than the file pilot.

    10 PRINT CHR$(205.5+RND(1)); : GOTO 10

This was on the cover of a book and it prints a maze using block characters? copilot said the block characters part but not the maze, i remembered that after seeing the "one of two block characters."

unfortunately that requires a BASIC to run, which will probably be larger than 256B and possibly even 1800000B - the mind is born .prg can just be "run" on the computer it was written for with no interpreter.

yes, I am aware of the Commodore 64 :) and I also know what machine code is.

Generation? Are you for real?

I just don't really see drawing like that by binaries that small. Though I've seen plenty of demoscene, not really the same.

I just checked one of the project pages (behind some links - here: https://filepilot.handmade.network) and the first post says C with OpenGL. Boy is it rare to see one of those nowadays.
