4D chess: that post is part of the psyop

I think that, without engagement-at-all-cost recommender systems, people would make wiser choices of content they consume. Even if by a small margin that's going to compound.

Yeah, that could be worded a little better. What happens is people end up thinking they “know” some account named BasedPepe1488 and shut out any outside information.

the thing posts like this miss, is that the internet isn't real life!

these people who develop antisocial tendencies because they saw something online were already alienated and were just looking for something, anything, to coalesce around!

I think you greatly underestimate the power of targeted messaging and how easy it is to change what people believe. All of us are susceptible to being convinced of a certain viewpoint in matters where we have no expertise.

Ask people how PiS (in Poland) or Trump (in USA) ruined many family relationships. It is unnerving. I think this proves how deeply the tribal mentality is rooted within humans.

The same holds true for Modi in India, where he is a polarizing figure.

I often assumed all the social media posts trying to convince young women to stay single and childless until it's too late were by bitter older women who want to trick other women into their same fate, because misery loves company!

Now I wonder if this is not just bitter old women but a calculated plot by our enemies to damage American society. Maybe it's a little bit of both.
