Ask HN: Does YC read all applications?

Hi HN... I have what I think is a credible YC application (I've personally build & sold $1M of my own software, been a C-level exec at $180m ARR org before that, and my new product is crazy sophisticated with hundreds of sign-ups already).

I submitted early and haven't heard anything.

Last YC cycle was the same... just what seems like an automatic rejection at the timeout window.

Not to complain but just to compare notes - does YC actually read all the applications, or the ones they don't get to just time out to a default rejection? Seems as though a decision would be reached either way sooner.

Obviously with the deadline so close it doesn't look good.. just curious if they actually read these and the bar really is that high etc.

Immediate Reaction: Are you a bit overqualified for YC?

I couldn't comment, but I'd imagine that would correlate well with outcomes.

Last cycle I didn't even get a boilerplate rejection email. Literally nothing at all except the application submission confirmation.

Honestly ... you do not sound like an especially-good candidate for YC

If you are already at "hundreds of sign-ups" (whatever those "sign-ups" translate to), and you have "personally built & sold $1M of [your] own software"...why are you looking for pre-seed funding for current venture?
