Large cars suck, but the USA and CA do not have a market for small cars. Unless the government forces the market down that road.

No. Large cars are the consequence of questionable tax regimes, marketing, and Americans' psychological insecurities.

Replacing them will solve the problems listed in TFA. They are not contentious points.
