There's a vast spectrum between "I'm Bill Gates and nothing is ever out of my reach" and "slavery". Folks in poor nations with few prospects being exploited for their cheap labor often gets uncomfortably close to the slavery end of things.

If you end up watching traumatizing content for a low salary it does mean that the cards you were dealt at birth weren't so great. Perhaps they could have been in a better place if they pulled up their bootstraps but I'd challenge any SWE here to do well with the same starting circumstances
