My dad (who was a bankruptcy attorney) has always been anti-timeshare, so I asked him why. Obligatory disclaimer that this isn't legal advice.

He gave me these reasons: they are expensive and charge you assessments every year which can be raised at any time (like a condo), but unlike a condo, you can't sell them because nobody wants to buy them. You can't even give them away, so you're stuck with them for the rest of your life. You can't even get rid of them by declaring bankruptcy.



This is what I thought. These companies are taking advantage of people who don't have enough information and make them pay for rest of their life. All the people who attend these presentation are the ones who are trying to save money.
