I suspect privacy VPNs remain a minority use case, dwarfed by people connecting their home office computer to their corporate network.


The insane number of advertisements (TV, radio, internet) for different consumer "privacy" VPNs suggests otherwise. Nobody would waste money trying to sell VPN service if people weren't buying a lot of it.


I don’t consume enough broadcast media to comment there, but I certainly haven’t seen many privacy VPN ads online. And of course it doesn’t have to be popular to support a lot of ads - high margin would do that too.
