I would have thought you could build an open truss pillar that was as strong as a solid one.


Seems like a negative Fresnel lens in the lower corner of the windshield would suffice. I've had trouble with the A-pillar in my 2015 Prius; I may try this.


May be it would be possible to improve rollover safety by putting additional pillars inside the car, for example between chair backs?
