Right, people use to think this Satoshi was brilliant, and now if he is Satoshi all people will think is what a self-promoting and incompetent jerk he is. He should have just stayed quiet or made a simple blog post like the litecoin did without the PR blitz campaign. Doesn't seem like a very smart person tbh.
I am a bit outdated on this (week without internet). Why does Craig Wright wants to be Satoshi? It seems obscure to me that a anonymous figure that does not want to be revealed at all cost suddenly goes public by saying "I am Satoshi, here's all the proof".
Maybe he is trying to establish a level of connection between him and the name Satoshi Nakamoto on Google searches so that he can go after naive investors.
If he really is Satoshi - because he was found out in December anyway, and wants the madness with looking for Satoshi to stop.
If he's not - because he's a crackpot looking for fame and money.
In both cases, if people believe him, he'll get influence to settle some issues Bitcoin has been recently facing. (block size, competition from Ethereum, etc)
I heard a theory that he claimed a whole bunch of tax credits from the Australian Tax Office which were only possible if he actually owned a large amount of bitcoins (an amount that only Satoshi can possibly own). Now that he's being investigated by the ATO, he needs to somehow convince them that he owns those bitcoins.
why personal crack-pot theory is that it was a set up by block stream to get Gavin's commit access revoked.
everyone's making theories because no one has a clue what's going on. Craig has gotten a lot of really respected people to vouch for him, but is neglecting the one thing that the real Satoshi would consider to be real proof.
So we're all just farting around making joke theories as far as I can tell. Maybe I'll right a sci fi book about it in thirty years, but by then it will be sci non fi I guess.
