Went from optimizing typing speed (Neovim) to context-switching (git worktrees) to decision-making (Zed + AI). I feel like the job keeps moving upstream. Would love to hear how other people's workflows have adapted, especially those who have been through a few tool transitions already.
Are you spending less time coding and more time deciding what to build?
It is kind of why I believe in commercial software. [1]
Because it is ok to get paid so you can buy beans, shoes, and even nice things.
And it is ok not to give away the fruits of your labor. [2]
[1] I also believe in free software. GNU is one of the two most important philosophical ideas of the second half of the 20th century. Animal rights is the other.
[2] It is also ok to give away the fruits of your labor. The world is complex and the right thing depends on all the known facts.
What is it exactly that you believe? Obviously open source is not the tooth fairy and we have strong evidence that it already exists. Is that you believe that there's a realistic future where all code will be open source?
